Dye sublimation printing is an innovative printing process that is currently popular in the print market. There are various printing processes, including the effective practice of screen printing. Today, we sum up some experience based on daily operation, and make a simple comparison between screen printing and sublimation printing.
What's Screen printing?
Screen printing is a printing process using a template, the ink is applied to the opening area of the template, and the ink is transferred to the base material by using a filling blade or scraper moving on the press. The ink is forced to mesh through the mesh to the printed item. Screen printing can also be called screen printing or silk screen printing.
What's sublimation printing?
Dye sublimation printing requires three steps in printing process. First, design the printed patterns on the computer. Second, print the customized graphics on the transfer paper as a mirror image of the original image. Then the transfer paper is inserted into the hot press to make the printing sublimate, which means that the graphics are transferred from the gas to the solid without the liquid phase and into the polyester fabric or the polymer material. There is no need to use water and no smoke produced. In this respect, it is also more environmentally friendly.
The Difference of Printing
Screen printing can produce only one color at a time. If the color of the graph is various, the color will be layered on the substrate alone. Using multiple colors, if the template is not aligned correctly, the printout pattern may be very imprecise. Since dye sublimation first starts with a digital print, all colors are imprinted at the same time and there is no risk of the inks running or the colors not lining up. Detailed prints with multiple color profiles are produced at their finest quality with a dye sublimation printing technique. If too much ink is used in the screen print, inks can run or become splotchy.
However, dye sublimated prints dry instantly due to the heat press that is used at the very end of the printing process. In a screen printing process, ink can leak from the previous print and show up on unwanted substrates. This incident is known as "ghost imaging"and can occur if the tools used aren’t properly cleaned after each use.
Screen printing merely places ink on top of the substrate, dye sublimation printing allows inks to permeate the fibers of the material.Screen printing images may be damaged over time and different from dye sublimation graphics printing. Sublimation is the best choice for printing. But that really depends on what you want to do.
Depends on your requirement, you can choose any for better output. If you want to know more, you can contact us.
